Kusilvak Rising works to strengthen the 13 communities of the Kusilvak region by increasing economic opportunity, building local capacity, and supporting community-driven development. As a charitable nonprofit, we collaborate with tribes, municipalities, schools, and regional partners to advance initiatives that reflect local priorities. Our work includes supporting infrastructure and housing efforts, language and cultural revitalization, food security initiatives, gardening and land-based programs, arts and apprenticeship opportunities, and climate adaptation strategies. Through grantmaking partnerships or executing grants that create jobs and program development, we help communities access resources, build skills, and create pathways that support long-term resilience.

Our civic engagement work supports the region’s tribes, leaders, and families by promoting informed participation in public processes, strengthening local voices, and helping communities advocate for their priorities at the state and federal levels.
Through education, outreach, and leadership development, we empower community members to understand policy issues, engage with elected officials, and elevate regional concerns in a unified and respectful way. Our approach is nonpartisan, culturally grounded, and focused on ensuring that the people of the Kusilvak region are represented, heard, and supported as they work to build a stronger future for their children, culture, and communities

Partner with Kusilvak Rising Professional Services LLC to support the operations for Kusilvak Rising, Inc.
To sustain this work, Kusilvak Rising operates Kusilvak Rising Professional Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary that provides recruiting, strategic planning, grant writing and grant management, and logistics and event planning services across Alaska. Earnings from the LLC support operations for both the parent organization and the subsidiary, allowing us to reinvest in regional programs, expand services, and reduce reliance on traditional funding streams. As the organization grows, we are expanding efforts in non-partisan civic engagement and community participation to ensure that regional priorities are understood, elevated, and supported through collaboration and informed involvement in public processes. Together, we are building opportunity that honors culture and creates lasting impact for future generations.
